The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel revealed in new teaser

The Elder Scrolls VI finally has a name. After years of speculation, Bethesda has officially revealed that the next entry in the series is titled The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel, confirming long-standing fan theories about the game's setting in the process.

A newly released teaser offers little in the way of gameplay or story details, instead focusing on a brief cinematic sequence. The trailer shows sand being swept away to reveal an Elder Scrolls scroll, which then unfolds into the game's title reveal. More importantly, the teaser confirms that the city of Sentinel and the province of Hammerfell will play a central role in the upcoming RPG.

The reveal won't come as a huge surprise to Elder Scrolls fans. For years, players have dissected the original teaser trailer, developer comments and in-game references in search of clues about the sequel's setting, with Hammerfell consistently emerging as one of the leading theories. The latest teaser appears to finally put those rumours to rest.

While Bethesda stopped short of revealing any gameplay, the teaser does include a small lore snippet, a quote from Yazar, Moth Priest to High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell, spoken during the year 4E 206: “The scroll offered only a shimmer, a veil thinly lifted to my eyes. A future lost. A victory undone. Sands of time scattered by fate.”

For now, Bethesda has provided little beyond the title and setting confirmation, so there is still no word on when we might see more of the game, or when it will release.
