Ubisoft has spent the past year restructuring its studios and projects, resulting in layoffs, cancellations and several closures across the company. While it seemed that the major moves were winding down, a new report indicates that Ubisoft is preparing to shut down another long‑running team.
According to sources speaking with VGC, Ubisoft is set to close RedLynx, the Finland‑based studio best known for the Trials series. RedLynx was founded in 2000 and joined Ubisoft in 2011. The team produced multiple successful Trials titles during the Xbox Live Arcade era, but it has not released a new game in several years, and its future within Ubisoft had been unclear for some time.
Alongside the closure of RedLynx, Ubisoft is also making further cuts at Ubisoft Singapore. The studio is eliminating up to 70 positions as part of the ongoing restructuring effort. Ubisoft Singapore has primarily operated as a support team, contributing to major projects such as Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and Skull and Bones.
These changes follow a year of consolidation across Ubisoft’s global network. The company has been reducing headcount, cancelling projects and merging teams as it attempts to stabilise its development pipeline.
KitGuru says: Ubisoft has already made substantial cuts over the past year, and the closure of RedLynx shows that more changes are still happening behind the scenes.
