Gigabyte is kicking off a price war in the OLED monitor space with the launch of its new MO27Q28G. This new 27-inch gaming monitor uses the same panel as LG's own UltraGear 27GX700A. However, Gigabyte is bringing it to market at a dramatically lower price point, aiming to make next-gen OLED performance more accessible.
First shown at Computex earlier this year, the MO27Q28G is one of the first monitors to use LG's 4th Gen Primary Tandem OLED technology. According to TFTCentral, the 27-inch panel packs a 1440p resolution, a 280 Hz refresh rate, and a near-instantaneous 0.03ms GtG response time. Perhaps most impressively, it can hit a peak brightness of 1500 nits in HDR, a significant leap for OLED displays. Moreover, it's VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black-certified.

While the panel specs are identical to LG's own UltraGear OLED 27GX700A, the pricing is not. The Gigabyte MO27Q28G has launched in China for just CNY 2,899 (around $409), a massive 37% cheaper than LG's CNY 4,599 asking price for its equivalent model. The monitor is expected to launch in the US by the end of this month for around $499, which would make it an incredibly compelling offer for enthusiasts.
Despite the aggressive price, Gigabyte hasn't skimped on features. The monitor is certified for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and is also Nvidia G-Sync Compatible. Connectivity is decent, with two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 port, a headphone jack, and a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and provides 18W of power delivery. A built-in USB 3.2 hub, a KVM switch, and 2x 5W speakers are also included.
