Microsoft teasing Final Fantasy VII Remake coming to Xbox was an “error”

Following the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake on PlayStation back in 2020, much of the language surrounding the game’s exclusivity seemed to suggest that the critically acclaimed title could soon find its way onto Xbox consoles. While this has yet to happen, a recent post by Microsoft seemed to indicate that its release on Xbox was imminent. Unfortunately, the console manufacturer has now confirmed that this is not the case.

A few days ago as part of a Father’s Day post, Xbox’s Brazilian account posted a photo to Twitter featuring many video game protagonists and their children. One of the characters included was Barret from Final Fantasy VII Remake – leading many to believe that the game could soon find its way onto Xbox consoles.

The post was quickly deleted, which led some to further believe in this fact. Unfortunately, it seems as though this isn’t the case, with Microsoft sharing a statement to Eurogamer saying: “The image was posted in error and removed as it included a title not available on Xbox.”

While yes, Final Fantasy VII Remake is not currently on Xbox, the statement does not deny that it could arrive at some point in the future. That said, until officially revealed otherwise, Microsoft should be taken on their word – especially as this isn’t the first error posted by Xbox’s Brazil branch.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this situation? Was the post a genuine error? Will Final Fantasy VII Remake ever come to Xbox? Let us know your thoughts down below.
