Asus’s ROG Strix XG27ACMSR features triple-modes with up to 640Hz refresh rates

Asus has announced the ROG Strix XG27ACMSR, a 27-inch esports monitor built around a 360Hz Fast IPS panel and a multi-resolution Triple Mode feature. Designed for competitive players, the display lets users switch down from native resolution to Full HD at up to 420Hz or HD at up to 640Hz to prioritise frame rates over pixel count.

Alongside switchable refresh rates, the ROG Strix XG27ACMSR (via DisplaySpecifications) delivers a rated 1ms GtG response time and a 0.3ms minimum. Motion clarity is improved by Asus Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB) and ELMB Sync, enabling simultaneous blur reduction and adaptive refresh. The monitor also features Adaptive-Sync support, AMD FreeSync Premium, and G-Sync Compatible validation, alongside VESA AdaptiveSync Display 360Hz and 420Hz ratings. Moreover, Asus has built in its AI Assistant suite, which includes AI Visual, Dynamic Crosshair, and Dynamic Shadow Boost, complemented by GamePlus, GameVisual presets, and GameFast Input.

Colour reproduction covers 95% of the DCI-P3 gamut and 120% of sRGB with 10-bit colour depth support. For HDR content, the panel reaches a typical brightness of 400nits with VESA DisplayHDR 400 and HDR10 certification, joined by TÜV-certified Flicker-Free and Low Blue Light filters. Ports include one DisplayPort 1.4, a full-bandwidth 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 input, an audio jack, and a USB-C port supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode and 15W power delivery. Adjustments are handled via a stand offering 110mm of height travel, swivel, tilt, and pivot, alongside a 1/4-inch tripod mount and VESA 100x100mm compatibility.

KitGuru says: Asus is continuing to expand its multi-frequency display lineup, and stepping up to 640Hz in HD will certainly appeal to those who want an all-rounder monitor that can offer better visuals or higher refresh rates with a push of a button. Would you drop down to 720p to hit 640Hz?
