Supermassive Games, the studio behind Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology, is undergoing a leadership change. Just over a month on from the release of the studio's latest game, Directive 8020, Supermassive CEO, Robert Henrysson, has announced that he has stepped down from his role and departed parent company Nordisk Games entirely.
As reported by VGC, Henrysson shared the news in a post on LinkedIn, marking the end of his tenure at both Supermassive and Nordisk Games with a statement:
“Today marks the end of a very rewarding chapter of my professional life, as I prepare to depart from Nordisk Games, and as the CEO of Supermassive Games Ltd. It’s been a fantastic time. During my years as Chairman and later, as interim CEO for Avalanche Studios Group, we saw the studio’s revenue and profit triple.”
“Leading a studio is never a one-man job, it is the entire team’s effort. Our commitment to continuous improvement was, and continues to be, central to everything we do. To everyone at Supermassive Games, I am so grateful for everything I’ve learnt and experienced with all of you. You are the greatest storytelling game studio on earth”.
Henrysson’s departure comes at a notable moment for Supermassive. The studio has multiple projects in motion and just released Directive 8020, the fifth game in the Dark Pictures Anthology. It is unclear if a sixth game is on the way, or if Supermassive will move on to something else under new leadership.
