XFX RX 9060 XT V3 graphics card with Samsung GDDR6 memory runs 10°C cooler

Graphics card manufacturer XFX has announced that a recent revision to its Radeon RX 9060 XT has led to significant improvements in thermal and power efficiency. The change that brought about these benefits was a simple swap of the GDDR6 memory supplier from SK Hynix to Samsung.

XFX (via Uniko's Hardware) has published test results showing that its new Radeon RX 9060 XT V3 models, featuring Samsung GDDR6 memory modules, run the memory at considerably lower temperatures than its Hynix-based counterparts. The new V3 card with Samsung memory recorded a memory temperature of just 77°C during a FurMark 4K test, a full 10°C cooler than the 87°C seen on the older model with SK Hynix memory. That's even more impressive considering the Samsung-equipped card had its fans spinning over 350 RPM slower. Additionally, the revised card consumed 24W less power under the same load, drawing just 183W compared to the previous version's 207W.

This is quite surprising, considering that previous generations of GDDR6 have sometimes seen Samsung's chips running slightly warmer than those of the competition. For consumers, the benefits are clear: XFX's “V3” models of the RX 9060 XT are expected to consume less power and run cooler, quieter, and more stable.

As of now, it appears that the new XFX Radeon RX 9060 XT V3 graphics cards are only available in China. However, nothing stops XFX from shipping these new models to other parts of the globe.
