Intel's next-generation “Battlemage” graphics card lineup might be about to change, as new evidence has surfaced for a higher-end GPU. A new data log entry appears to confirm the existence of a Battlemage GPU with a 16GB VRAM configuration.
The finding comes from Tomasz Gawroński (via VideoCardz), who discovered a boot log that explicitly links the PCI Device ID E221 to a memory capacity of 16384 MiB. This particular device ID has long been associated with the unannounced BMG-G31 silicon, which is expected to power Intel's more powerful Arc B-series graphics cards for gamers and professionals, believed to be named B770.
A 16 GB memory capacity aligns with previous rumours that the BMG-G31 GPU, which is said to feature a 256-bit memory bus. This would position it as a higher-tier offering above the previously leaked Arc B580 (192-bit bus and 12GB of VRAM) and B570 (160-bit bus and 10GB of VRAM). Moreover, the BMG-G31 itself is rumoured to feature at least 32 of the new Xe2 cores.
It's worth noting that several device IDs are associated with the BMG-G31 chip, allowing for different configurations for gaming and professional workstation cards, with the latter often featuring even more VRAM. While Intel has yet to unveil any BMG-G31-based graphics cards, this is another strong indication that the company is actively testing a competitive new range of GPUs.
KitGuru says: How well do you think an Intel Arc B770 would perform compared to the current entry-level and mid-range graphics cards from other manufacturers?
