Last week at CES, Genki, an accessory manufacturer that makes cases for products like the Nintendo Switch, arrived at the show armed with its first Nintendo Switch 2 case, and a dummy model of the console to proudly unveil to everyone in attendance. At this point, a number of accessories makes have leaked details about the Switch 2, but Nintendo is staying quiet for now.
Despite the numerous leaks in recent months, Nintendo's marketing plans for the Switch 2 have not changed. Nintendo is still moving forward with its planned, secret launch date. As for all of the leaks, Nintendo simply responded by telling Japanese news outlet, Sankei, that the videos and images circulating from CES are “not official”.
The statement doesn't deny the accuracy of the leaks. Nintendo is simply stating the obvious – they haven't announced or shown anything publicly yet. Given the magnitude of recent leaks, fans are growing impatient with Nintendo, but we'll have to wait a bit longer. Chances are, the new Nintendo Switch will be revealed before the end of the fiscal year, which ends for Nintendo in March.
Nintendo doesn't have a lot on the books for the Switch this year but from what we understand, a Nintendo Switch 2 reveal will be happening within the next couple of months. Additionally, a number of third-party developers are readying Triple A games for the Switch 2, including titles that just wouldn't run on the original model. The new console should have more AAA support due to new features like AI upscaling, powered by the Nvidia GPU under the hood of the Switch 2.
KitGuru Says: I was a big fan of the Nintendo Switch but since the Steam Deck hit the market, I've had little interest in having a locked down handheld console. Are you planning on getting a Switch 2?
