Following on from a leak earlier this week, Antec has now officially announced its new handheld gaming system, the Antec Core HS. The new handheld will be debuting at Computex, offering a new hardware option for those looking to take their PC gaming on the go.
The Antec Core HS gaming handheld has been designed in collaboration with Ayaneo, a company with plenty of expertise in the handheld market. The Core HS aims to deliver “unparalleled” audio quality with its dual-channel speakers, and gamers won't have to worry about any game compatibility issues, as the device will run Windows 11.
In many ways, the Core HS is almost like seeing the past being reinvented. The slide-up display with a keyboard hiding underneath is reminiscent of the 2000s era of mobile phones. What was once an old design is now new again and for gaming handhelds, having access to a full keyboard could be a very good thing. Windows isn't designed well for gamepad and touch-screen navigation, so having that keyboard could be useful for quick and easy typing, whether it be searching for a game or doing a quick internet search.
Exact technical details and full specifications have yet to be revealed, but we won't have to wait long for more news on that. Computex kicks off the first week of June and we will be there again this year to cover the whole show.
KitGuru Says: Specs and price point will play an important role here. Are any of you thinking about picking up a PC gaming handheld this year? Would you consider a newer option like the Antec Core HS over an older piece of hardware like the Steam Deck?
