Leaker claims Far Cry 7 will star Cillian Murphy

The Far Cry series is best known for its roster of villains, with each of the franchise’s respective entries putting an increasing amount of focus on their antagonists. Following the star power of Giancarlo Esposito as Antón Castillo in the last game, Far Cry 7 will reportedly feature Cillian Murphy.

Cillian Murphy is an Oscar-winning actor known most recently for his portrayal of Robert J. Oppenheimer in 2023’s blockbuster hit film. That said, Murphy’s repertoire extends much further, having played the lead in the hit BBC show Peaky Blinders, been in a bunch of Christopher Nolan’s other films as well as the classic zombie thriller 28 Days Later.

According to known Assassin’s Creed leaker ‘xj0nathan’ the official announcement for Far Cry 7 is set to happen imminently. Even bigger news however is perhaps the fact that the game will reportedly feature Cillian Murphy. Considering the franchise’s history of putting the greatest emphasis on its villains, if true, then Murphy will likely be the entry’s primary antagonist.

We began to hear leaks and rumours for Far Cry 7 last year, with reports claiming that the game will take some major swings – adding a 72-hour timer (akin to Dead Rising) alongside a new interrogation mechanic.

Especially in the wake of his Oppenheimer win, Ubisoft nabbing Cillian Murphy for Far Cry 7 would be a massive get. We won’t have long to wait in order to find out whether the leak is true.
