While we're still expecting new updates and DLC content for Starfield, Bethesda has begun moving resources around to focus on its next major project, The Elder Scrolls 6. The next Elder Scrolls game was announced all the way back in 2018, alongside Starfield, but work on the game is only really just getting underway now that Starfield has released.
As part of Bethesda's message celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls, we did get a small update on the status of The Elder Scrolls 6. It would seem the next game is now in development and better yet, developers are playing early builds.
“Yes, we are in development on the next chapter—The Elder Scrolls 6,” Bethesda writes. “Even now, returning to Tamriel and playing early builds has us filled with the same joy, excitement, and promise of adventure”.
Of course, a playable build doesn't mean a polished, feature or content complete build. We won't be seeing The Elder Scrolls 6 anytime soon. I think there is a good chance we'll all be playing Grand Theft Auto 6 before we see any official gameplay for the new Elder Scrolls game.
