Valve has sold plenty of Steam Decks since launch but as with any product, a percentage of them did get sent back due to various reasons. Rather than putting fixable hardware to waste, Valve will soon offer a refurbished Steam Deck option.
While not officially announced, a new page in the backend of Steam points to “certified refurbished” Steam Deck models will appear in the store in the future, possibly for all three models, including the 512GB version with its anti-glare screen, the 256GB model and the 64GB base model.
Valve began adding these options into the backend of Steam earlier this week, so an official announcement could come at any moment. All refurbished models would get a substantial discount but final prices have yet to be announced. Currently, data points to a $519 price tag for the refurbished 512GB model, while its new price sits at $649. We would expect the final price to be a little closer to the original model than that but we'll have to wait and see.
The other big Valve project going on this year is of course Counter-Strike 2, which is still in closed beta testing, with plans to officially launch this year.
