It has become commonplace for pretty much any and all live-service titles to crossover with other franchises – be it gaming or otherwise. Capcom have now announced that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are coming to Street Fighter VI, bringing multiple costumes, accessories and more.
Making the announcement, the Street Fighter team said “Cowabunga! Scarf down that slice of pizza and get ready for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Street Fighter 6 collaboration on August 8. Get radical with TMNT gear and emotes, new Titles, TMNT stamps, in-game device wallpapers, camera frames in Photo Mode, and turn your World Tour and Battle Hub custom avatar into your favorite turtle.”
It is interesting to see the way in which the turtles are being added to the game. Unlike some crossovers, the TMNT will not be their own characters with unique moves. Instead, players will be able to transform their World Tour avatar into the turtles. This not only allows for more players to enjoy these characters without needing to learn their playstyles, but also means that more crossovers such as this can happen at a much more rapid rate – as game balance does not need to be considered.
Street Fighter VI is already off to a much stronger start when compared to SFV, and with collabs such as this already taking place, it will be interesting to see where the game is at two or three years from now.
KitGuru says: What do you think of this crossover? Is this the best way to do it? What other crossovers would you like to see in the future? Let us know down below.
