Starfield has passed a significant pre-launch milestone, with confirmation that the game has finally gone gold. That means its runway is now more-or-less clear for the official launch on September 6th, with preload announced too. The preload dates were also revealed on Wednesday, although this varies depending on whether you're playing on Xbox or PC.
The news was announced through Starfield's Twitter account. Starfield is now available for preload on the Xbox Series X|S and PC (via the Xbox app and Microsoft Store). Those who bought or are still planning to buy the game from Steam before the release will have to wait a little longer since the preload period does not begin until August 30th.

Note that to preload the game on the PC, you'll need at least nearly 140 GB of free space. On Xbox Series X|S consoles, you'll need slightly less space, requiring about 125 GB of storage space to proceed with the preload process.
The standard game will be available on September 6th for £69.99 or via Xbox Game Pass. You can also get the Premium Edition Upgrade for £34.99 or the Digital Premium Edition for £99.99, which gives you access to the game five days early. Lastly, the Constellation Edition, which also gives access to the game starting September 1st, will be available for £249.99.
KitGuru says: Have you already pre-ordered Starfield? Will you preload the game, or will you install it only when it releases?
