After years of waiting, Payday 3 is officially set to release this year. Ahead of the game's late September launch, there will be an open beta, playable on PC and Xbox.
If you are on PC, you can request access to the beta test right now through Payday 3's Steam Store listing. You do not need to purchase the game to gain access to the beta. Over on Xbox, the beta will require signing up through the Xbox Insider Hub.
Applications are randomly approved, so you might not get in on day-one of the beta, but keep an eye out as requests for beta access will be approved “several times per day” in batches, according to the Starbreeze FAQ. During the beta, there will be a level cap in place and the beta will only contain one playable heist, alongside four playable characters. Progression in the beta will not carry over to the final game.
While Payday 3 will also be releasing on PlayStation 5, there is no beta announced. We'll have to wait and see if that changes, as there is always a chance that there will be a full open beta closer to launch to give more players a taste of the game.
Payday 3 officially releases on the 21st of September for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. The game will also be available through Xbox Game Pass. The beta begins on the 2nd of August.
