Borderlands is getting its own ‘interactive series’ after Silent Hill: Ascension

Last year, Konami announced a slew of new Silent Hill projects in development. One of the more interesting projects came from Genvid Entertainment, which is building an “interactive series” using the Silent Hill IP. It looks like the studio has another similar project in the works for Borderlands.

Genvid Entertainment is now also working on Borderlands EchoVision Live, a new interactive streaming series that explores the misadventures of eight tourists stranded on Eden-6 after setting off on an Adventure Safari as space tourists. The audiences that tune in will get to make decisions to shape the direction of the story as it unfolds.

Unfortunately, the announcement doesn't reveal exactly how the interactive part of all this works. It could end up being something similar to Netflix's Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, or it could end up being similar to a Twitch Plays, where the community watching the stream gets to vote on actions and the majority vote wins.

Silent Hill: Ascension was initially announced with a 2023 release window but a specific date has yet to be announced. Borderlands EchoVision Live does not have any release date or release window at this time.

KitGuru Says: While I do like the idea of something like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, where it plays out like a choose your own adventure with multiple story branches, a Twitch Plays approach where decisions are decided for all viewers is less appealing to me personally.
