Ubisoft teases imminent release for Assassin’s Creed Origins 60FPS update

We've known for a while now that Ubisoft is planning to update Assassin's Creed Origins, bringing 60FPS support to the game and bringing all three Assassin's Creed ‘RPGs' up to the new standard frame rate for this generation. Ubisoft hasn't revealed an exact date yet, but the publisher's teasing indicates that the update will be dropping imminently.

Between 2014 and 2017, the Assassin's Creed franchise was faltering. Players had grown tired of buggy, yearly releases, so Ubisoft took this opportunity to reboot the series as a sprawling open-world RPG. This change kicked off with Assassin's Creed Origins, set in Ancient Egypt, which released on Xbox One and PS4 back in 2017. While both games did get 4K graphical updates for the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, the game never had a 60FPS patch, nor has it received further updates for the new generation of consoles.

Ubisoft said it was ‘looking into' 60FPS support for Assassin's Creed Origins late last year, and more recently, a PSN update revealed that the 60FPS patch was on the way. Now, Ubisoft has teased the update further, saying “the wait is almost over”, in a new tweet containing a GIF of Bayek, the main character from Assassin's Creed Origins.

The new patch should bring 60FPS support to the game on both PS5 and Xbox Series X. Later this year, we should also see a new Assassin's Creed spin-off game released, centred around one of the side characters from Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

KitGuru Says: I remember Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey both looking great on Xbox One X, but the 30FPS cap really hurt the game for me. It'll be interesting to revisit both games at 60FPS on the new generation consoles.
