MSI unveils H670, B660 and H610 motherboards at CES 2022

With Intel introducing a slew of new processors for desktops at CES 2022, it is time to check back in with motherboard vendors to see what’s new. This week, MSI has unveiled its expanded line-up of 600-series motherboards, including new H670, H610 and B660 boards.

For now, there’s only a single H670 motherboard, but expect more to come soon. MSI’s only H670 motherboard is the MAG H670 Tomahawk WIFI DDR4, featuring a 14 phase power system and 2x 8-pin power connectors, enough to power and handle even the mighty i9-12900K. In addition, there’s 3x M.2 slots with MSI’s Shield Frozr SSD cooling solution, a 2.5G LAN port, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and Lightning USB-C 20G.

The B660 range features 8x motherboards, from which 5x belong to the MAG series and the remaining 3x to the Pro series. Besides the MAG B660 Tomahawk WIFI DDR4, there’s the B660M Mortar and the B660M Mortar DDR4, as well as the Mortar WIFI and respective DDR4 variant. As part of the Pro series, we have the B660M-A, G and E models.

All MSI MAG boards are tested to ensure they can handle DDR5-6200 memory. These boards’ VRM design features up to 12 phase power design, further enhanced thanks to the 6-layer PCB. To keep temperatures low, MSI uses an extended heatsink design that covers the power system on all MAG B660 boards.

All MSI B660 motherboards are equipped with 2.5G LAN ports and support Wi-Fi 6. Depending on the model, they can have up to 3x M.2 Gen4 slots with M.2 Shield Frozr heatsinks and EZ M.2 clips. Moreover, the MAG B660 motherboards come with pre-installed I/O shields.

The H610 line-up only has two motherboards: the Pro H610M-B DDR4 and the Pro H610M-G DDR4. Both feature 1G LAN ports, 4x SATA ports, a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot and an M.2 slot with Steel Armor and EZ M.2 clips for easier installation. The only difference between both boards seems to be that the “G” model has RGB and Rainbow LED connectors, while the “B” model doesn’t.

KitGuru says: With cheaper 600-series motherboards now hitting the market, will you be looking to upgrade to Intel 12th Gen?
