Earlier this week, a significant bug was found in the GOG Galaxy launcher, which caused the app to block PC displays from going to sleep after a period of time. Fortunately, the developers have been quick to respond, with a fix now available.
At the time, we learned that the GOG Galaxy PC app would prevent PC displays from automatically going to sleep after a select period of time. The root cause seemed to be the new GOG Winter Sale banner, which triggered a ‘Video Wake Lock’, even when the app is running in the background.
In an email this afternoon, GOG brand and communication team manager, Lukasz Kukawski, confirmed to me that a hotfix update for the GOG client has been released today and should fix this very issue.
With that in mind, if you’re running GOG Galaxy on your system, be sure to download today’s update and avoid any issues with your Windows PC sleep and power settings.
KitGuru Says: Did any of you encounter this bug recently? Has today’s update solved the problem?
