Intel Core i5-12400 and 12400F are selling early on eBay

Intel won’t be officially releasing its non-K and “F” Intel 12th Gen Core processors until 2022, but it looks like a few people already have their hands on some samples. Some of these processors are already beginning to show up on eBay, with prices varying between £170 and £271 for the unreleased Core i5-12400 and Core i5-12400F.

Besides the Intel Core i5-12400 and i5-12400F entries shared by Tom’s Hardware, known leaker @momomo_us also shared another one listing an Intel Core i5-12400. The first two entries come from the same user, selling the i5-12400 at £271 and F-series CPU at £241. The latter is from a different user, who listed the processor at £170.

It’s unclear if these processors are engineering samples or qualification samples. However, one listing has a photo showing the processor’s S-Spec code, which is QXDY. Considering a previously known i5-12400 qualification sample had the QYHX S-Spec code, the Core i5-12400 listed on eBay may be an older engineering sample, which would be unsupported by a retail Z690 motherboard.

Both processors are expected to share the same specifications, except for the lack of the UHD 730 iGPU on the i5-12400F. These processors are said to pack 18MB of L3 cache, 6x P-cores, 12x threads and a base clock frequency of 2.5GHz, boosting to 4.4GHz as needed. The TDP/PBP is supposedly set at 65W.

Intel is expected to launch its remaining 12th Gen Core desktop processors in the first half of 2022.

KitGuru says: Given that these are not retail samples, we would advise against picking one up for personal use.
