Intel Core i9-12900K clock frequencies confirmed

It looks like some people are getting their Intel 12th Gen Core CPUs sooner than they should.  A few users have been uploading photos of retail samples of the Intel Core i9-12900K and Core i5-12600K to social media. We also seem to have confirmed specifications for the Core i9-12900K

The photos of retail samples were shared through Zhihu (via @9550pro) and on Reddit (images on Imgur), where the former included the Intel Core i9-12900K and Core i5-12600K and the latter only the Intel Core i9-12900K. The Zhihu user didn’t share much about the processors, but the Reddit user claims it had pre-ordered two i9-12900K CPUs, each priced at $610.

The Core i9-12900K specifications come from @momomo_us, who shared a screenshot showing the clock frequencies and TDP of the upcoming processor. The TDP looks to be set at 125W, as expected. As for the clock frequencies of the core cluster, the E (efficient) cores will have a 2.7GHz base clock and boost up to 3.8GHz. The P (performance) cores will have a 3.8GHz base clock and boost up to 5.0GHz. Note that these boost frequencies are achieved through Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0, so if they feature Thermal Velocity Boost, expect slightly higher frequencies.

Intel is expected to introduce the 12th Gen Core line-up on October 27th at its Innovation event and launch it a week later, on November 4th.

KitGuru says: It would seem that retail units are going out to customers a little early. Nonetheless, Intel should formerly announce its new desktop processors next week, with official availability and most importantly, compatible motherboards, coming shortly after.
