Back when OnePlus first hit the smartphone scene, it aimed to offer the ‘flagship killer’, designing an affordable smartphone with competitive performance that undercuts larger brands on price. Eventually, OnePlus ended up making flagships of its own and prices creeped up, although the company may finally have a new device worthy of the ‘flagship killer’ tagline.
Today, OnePlus announced the Nord 2, dubbing it the new ‘Flagship Killer’. The Nord 2 will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI processor, built on the 6nm process and featuring one Ultra Core running at up to 3GHz, three ‘Super Cores’ running at up to 2.6GHz and four ‘Efficiency Cores’ running at up to 2GHz.
We've worked with MediaTek to build an exclusive AI-enhanced experience that takes photography, display tech and gaming to a new dimension. And everything’s just better and smarter over there.

As pointed out by 9to5Google, OnePlus hasn’t used the Flagship Killer branding since the OnePlus 6, so it is notable to see it return here for the Nord 2. This is also the first OnePlus device to not use a Qualcomm processor.
Unfortunately, there is still a lot left to learn about the OnePlus Nord 2, in particular, we’ve yet to hear how much this phone will cost or when it will launch.
