MSI enters SSD market with Spatium M.2 drives

Earlier this year, we learned that MSI was preparing its first line of storage devices. Now, the company has announced its new Spatium M.2 NVMe SSDs, including PCIe 4.0 and PCIe 3.0 options and capacities up to 2TB.

The MSI M480 SSD is a PCIe 4.0 using NVMe 1.4 technology, allowing it to reach sequential read speeds of 7,000MB/s and sequential write speeds of 6,850MB/s. Available with 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage capacities, the M480 is MSI’s flagship SSD for enthusiasts looking for the fastest SSD for their PCs.

MSI is also launching another PCIe 4.0 SSD. The M470 is aimed at mainstream SSD consumers, offering sequential read speeds up to 5,000MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 4,400MB/s. Unlike the M480, the M470 will only be available with 1TB and 2TB storage capacities.

The entry level SSD here is the Spatium M370, a PCIe 3.0 SSD available with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacity. Seeds are naturally lower than the PCIe 4.0 SSDs, reaching sequential read/write speeds of 2400MB/s and 1850 MB/s respectively.

All three MSI Spatium SSDs include error correction features like LPDC ECC and E2E Data Protection for higher endurance. Moreover, these SSDs will come with a 5-year warranty.
