Since launching late last year, Watch Dogs Legion has offered just one graphics mode on Xbox Series X/S and PS5, enabling 30FPS gameplay with ray-traced reflections. Soon, the game will be joining many other next-gen titles in offering a 60 frames per second mode.
Watch Dogs: Legion Patch 4.5 is coming up soon and Ubisoft has announced that this will include a new performance mode option on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. So far, this has been “one of the biggest requests” from players on these new consoles.
Unfortunately, the announcement doesn’t dive into what changes will be made to achieve this higher performance, but we’re likely looking at a resolution drop to 1080p or 1440p, or possibly a dynamic resolution solution, in addition to toggling off ray-tracing.
Most games releasing on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 have come with performance mode options, making 60 frames per second the new norm on these systems. Microsoft is also working to bring older titles up to the 60FPS standard through features like FPS Boost, which now supports almost 100 games in total.
KitGuru Says: I’ve had an Xbox Series X for a while now and the lack of performance mode in Watch Dogs: Legion has stuck out like a sore thumb. Do you think performance modes will become standard for this next console generation?
