An Indiegogo campaign for a promising portable gaming console recently went live and has already reached its funding goal of £18,250. The money will be used to fund the production of the ‘One Xplayer’, a portable gaming console featuring three Tiger Lake CPU options, a 16:10 1600p screen, and up to 2TB of PCIe 3.0 SSD storage.
The One Xplayer will be available in three editions with different specifications: Standard, Pro, and Ultimate. The Standard Edition will be the most affordable, priced at £750 and featuring an Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor and up to 1TB of storage. The Pro Edition, priced at £820, upgrades the CPU to a Core i7-1165G7 and has three storage options (512GB, 1TB, and 2TB). As for the Ultimate Edition, it packs a Core i7-1185G7 and up to 2TB of storage, increasing the price tag to £1130.
All versions of the One Xplayer come with the Iris Xe iGPU with 96 EUs, 16GB of LPDDR4-4266 memory, Windows 10, and an 8.4-inch with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 2560×1600 resolution. The portable console supports external graphics cards, USB 4.0 and 3.0 connectivity, Micro SD cards, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 and comes with a magnetic keyboard included for the full PC experience.
Other interesting features packed in the One Xplayer includes dual speakers, a fingerprint scanner, and a Turbo button that increases the PL1 and PL2 by 15%, from 25W to 28W and 35W to 40W, respectively. The One Xplayer is expected to release in June or July 2021.
KitGuru says: It’s hard to believe that any portable gaming console can dethrone the Nintendo Switch. However, compared to other similar systems, the One Xplayer seems to be the best of the bunch on paper, not only because of the hardware it offers, but also due to its design.
